Idea and Concept
Made from lightweight yet durable aluminum on the outside and a spacious interior lined up with leather on the inside, the case becomes the perfect metaphor of the essence ‘Sculptured from Solid and Soft’.
Shaping the concept we focused on the vivid characteristics of two brands, visualizing the luxury perception of Dior through solid forms of organic diamonds and highlighting the minimalism and high quality of Rimowa through attention to details in aluminum texture and photorealism in threads and soft fabric simulations.
All elements — organic diamonds and crystals, threads and fabric enhance the cold blue tone of the case, along with lightning and background in the reel. The light is contrasting but still soft, divided into a gradient background and shadows that fall on the objects illuminating them — the result of our research for a well-balanced solution to equally reveal all aspects of aluminum material, diamonds, fibers and textures.
Pure Soft
The emergence of threads and fabric symbolizes the softness and becomes a metaphor for shaping the case’s inner interior. Every detail, though contrasting, ultimately finds harmony: crystals arranged on threads, a vortex of threads forming a fabric with realistic fibers that catches the case, the straps made from soft leather with an added texture that gives a slight roughness.
Pure Solid
Diamonds and crystals come in a variety of shapes, enhancing a more organic feel. They’re dusted onto the stones, creating a slightly unrealistic arrangement: amethyst with a fine texture and smaller stones on the main rock. The leading form creates a blend of organic elements — the natural crystals, and the product, which is carved out of this chaotic, rock essence and transformed into the shape of the case harmonized in the design elements with reflections and textual vibes.
Process & RnD
One of our challenges was to create the main stone essence that matched the ultimate form of the Dior x Rimowa case, and felt both natural and imaginative, while retaining a sense of realism and avoiding overly abstract or exaggerated forms.
To address this, we explored various crystal shapes that combined sharp lines with smooth surfaces, resulting in a pleasing sense of organic flow and streamlining. We strategically composed the stone so its diagonals aligned with the bag’s diagonal direction, ensuring a harmonious relationship between the two and creating a unified visual language.
